Your Journey Through the Program
Information Session
Start by watching the informational video seminar for an overview of the bariatric surgery process, treatment options and expected results.
Initial Consultation
A one-on-one appointment with a bariatric surgeon who will get to know you, your weight loss challenges and goals, and your medical history. You’ll learn about whether you qualify for surgery.
Orientation and Nutrition Class
The program navigator and registered dietitian will provide you with a program booklet. In this small group setting, you will begin your journey with the tools and education to make better dietary and exercise choices. This class will also cover the preliminary steps to take that will lead you to surgery.
Program Fee Payment
A non-refundable $495.00 program fee will need to be paid before the following steps are taken.
Program Visit
You will have a series of visits with a certified physician assistant (PA-C), who will review your medical history, discuss program test results, make medication adjustments, and coordinate any further referrals before surgery.
Nutrition Visits
You will meet with a Registered Dietitian for nutrition education, to set dietary and exercise goals, and learn about the pre-operative and post-operative diet regimens.
Referrals and Labs
Blood work will be drawn to check for any metabolic abnormalities that could be contributing to your weight, as well as any tobacco use, or vitamin deficiencies that need to be corrected. You will need a recent sleep study, psychiatric evaluation, exercise evaluation, chest X-ray, and electrocardiogram (ECG). Your provider may recommend other referrals or testing to be completed before surgery such as a nuclear stress test or echocardiogram.
Operative Visit
This will be your final visit with the surgeon to set up surgery.
Prior Authorization
Your medical information will be submitted to your insurance carrier for prior approval for surgery. Once the procedure has been approved, your surgery date will be determined.
