Wound Healing
If your body does not heal properly after surgery or an injury, our Comprehensive Wound Healing Center is here to help. We provide state-of-the-art, outpatient wound care and hyperbaric medicine for acute and chronic wounds.
For most people, wound healing is a natural, uneventful process. For some, however, it becomes a complex medical problem requiring specialized treatment and care. Nearly seven million Americans suffer from chronic wounds, which are those that do not improve significantly within four weeks or have not healed completely in eight weeks.
At Pardee's Comprehensive Wound Healing Center, our staff is trained in the most current evidence-based practices for wound management and hyperbaric medicine.

Frequently Asked Questions
Learn more with these answers to some of your most asked questions about the wound healing center.
What causes chronic wounds?
Diabetes, an aging population, immobilization, and circulatory problems contribute to most chronic, non-healing wounds. Other chronic wounds include pressure ulcers, a common side effect of spinal cord injury, arthritis, and other conditions that require a patient to be bedridden. Chronic wounds can also result from traumatic injury, non-healing surgical incisions and a variety of other diseases.
Why is a special center needed for wound care?
Patients who have non-healing wounds require specialized care and treatment. In traditional medical settings, many patients may not receive the inter-disciplinary attention that these wounds require. For these patients, minor lesions may lead to chronic, non-healing wounds with serious infection, gangrene, or the possibility of amputation.
Specialized wound care ensures patients can heal and return to their daily life activities. Pardee’s wound care staff is trained in the most current evidence-based practices for wound management and hyperbaric medicine.

What is hyperbaric oxygen therapy?
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a special treatment where the patient breathes 100 percent oxygen inside a pressurized chamber. Normally the air we breathe contains 21 percent oxygen, so this greatly increases the amount of oxygen delivered by your blood to body tissues. This quick, high concentration of oxygen to the bloodstream boosts the healing process of wounds and is effective in fighting certain types of infections. It also stimulates the growth of new blood vessels and improves circulation. The number of hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments you would receive depends on your diagnosis.
