Why did you choose to work in health care?

I have been interested in health sciences, particularly medical technology, for many years. I enjoy using my skills to provide patients clinical laboratory answers and help with the betterment of their health.

What does a typical workday look like for you?

I primarily work in microbiology, which involves identifying pathogenic bacteria and testing that organism to find out what antibiotic treatment is needed. I also do other testing throughout the department, including hematology, urinalysis, and coagulation. It keeps my skills sharp and there is never a dull moment!

What do you enjoy most about working at Pardee?

I like making a difference in people’s lives “behind the scenes.” I also enjoy the people that I work with – my lab family.

What is a surprising fact about yourself?

I had the honor and privilege to sing at Lincoln Center in New York City with a chorus that I was a part of for many years. What great memories to be on the same stage with Andy Williams, Roberta Flack, and Larry Gatlin. After that, I continued to sing with the Asheville Symphony Chorus for over 20 years.
