Clint Robinson
Pharmacy Tech Specialist - Purchasing Agent, Pharmacy Administration
Happy with Pardee since 2023
Where are you from?
I am a true WNC native. I was born and raised in Swannanoa. My mother's side of the family actually settled in the late 1700's in, what is now, the Beaverdam area of North Asheville. Our first family homestead still stands to this day on Rice Branch Rd (named after my ancestor James Rice).
When did you join UNC Health Pardee?
I began my journey with Pardee back in April 2023 when I was hired as an overnight pharmacy tech. I worked that schedule until last September when I was promoted to Pharmacy Tech Specialist and Pharmacy Purchaser and love every minute of it.
What inspired you to join UNC Health Pardee?
I was working at another hospital and met a PRN tech who worked at Pardee full-time. Hearing how highly she spoke about Pardee intrigued me, so when she told me they were hiring for the inpatient pharmacy I sent in my resume. One of the best decisions I've made.
What does a typical workday look like for you?
Since beginning my role as purchaser my days are no longer "typical". My primary role is keeping the Inpatient and OR pharmacies stocked efficiently, while also ordering for Pardee BlueMD, various hospital departments, Infusion Pharmacy, and Cancer Center Pharmacy. I also assist in the main pharmacy when needed and help train new technicians, including preparing them for IV training and updating training materials to improve our process. I wear many hats in my role, but I do so with pride and enthusiasm.
Can you share a memorable moment or experience that made you feel proud to be part of the UNC Health Pardee team?
During Hurricane Helene, Swannanoa was hit hard. My backyard became a river and a landslide brought three neighboring homes into it. While searching for survivors, I witnessed things that will stay with me for life. I didn’t talk about it much, but my director reached out, connecting me with our spiritual services team and a UNC Health therapist. I've never worked anywhere that cares for its employees like Pardee. Looking back, I know I would have felt isolated at my previous job. Instead, Pardee ensured I had support, reminding me that sometimes, just knowing help is available makes all the difference.
What do you appreciate most about the culture and community at UNC Health Pardee?
What I appreciate most about the culture at Pardee is that no matter what role you are in, everyone around you is always cheering for you and helping you grow. When I started in inpatient pharmacy, I expected tension between pharmacy techs and nurses, as I had seen at my last job. Instead, I found teamwork and support — like when the ED nurses surprised me with cake and a card on my birthday. We are not separated by departments; we are united by the mutual understanding of our importance and roles in ensuring the health and wellbeing of the patients.
What is a surprising fact about yourself?
Throughout my life, I've learned how to play six instruments: trumpet, baritone, flute, clarinet, piano, and oboe, and I’m currently learning my seventh instrument, the cello.
