Cardiology - Interventional

Position Overview:

UNC Health Pardee is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Interventional Cardiologist to join our dynamic cardiology team in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. The successful candidate will possess expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, with a focus on interventional procedures. This role involves working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide patient-centered care, contributing to the growth and development of the cardiology department, and participating in ongoing education and research initiatives.

Practice Environment:

  • Conventional techniques including: OCT/IVUS, Physiologic assessment with microvascular testing, Shockwave, and Impella.

  • State-of-the-art GE Cath Lab with 2000 diagnostic Cath procedures and 300 PCI in 2024

Job Requirements:

  • Perform a range of interventional cardiology procedures, including but not limited to angioplasty, stenting, and other catheter-based interventions.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with complex cardiovascular conditions.
  • Participate in 1:3 on-call rotations and provide emergency care as needed.

Hospitalists will engage in direct patient care activities and medical/clinical practice as the principal component of their overall professional responsibility. Position Summary

  • Assessment, evaluation, diagnostic determination, on-going treatment and clinical management, necessary referral of consultation, care planning and modification, medications/therapeutic orders, transfer authorization, risk assessment, and determination of readiness and planning for discharge for inpatients
  • Coordination of admissions from ER and area hospitals
  • Direct contract and consultations with patient family members, friends, advocates, and others to ensure effective communication of patient status and care plans
  • Day-to-day patient contact/rounding/care management that actively encourages and includes professional input from all members of the patient care team

NP/PA will engage in direct patient care activities and medical/clinical practice as the principal component of their overall professional responsibility.

These patient care activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Evaluate the total health care needs of patients and develop plans to meet the patients' needs
  • Provide consultation, teaching, and coordination with patients and their family members regarding treatment and medical care
  • Work collaboratively with the physician team in patient evaluation, management, and revision of therapeutic plans for assigned patients
  • Provide educational management to patients and their families regarding disease processes and diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe for and treat a variety of diseases, disorders, and injuries within the health clinic
  • Record entries into patients records to include history and exam findings, results of laboratory tests, X-rays, diagnoses, treatment plans, drugs dispensed or administered in accordance with approved protocols
  • Perform routine procedures such as EKG testing, suturing, incision and drainage for assigned patients

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Experience in Emergency Medicine required
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of medical conditions/diseases/types of injuries
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts (10am-10pm; 1pm-1am)

The patient care activities include, but are not limited to:

Obtains relevant health and medical history, performs thorough physical assessment, reviews and interprets pertinent diagnostic tests/results. Develops appropriate differential diagnoses. Develops and implements treatment plans including prescribing/ordering of appropriate evidence-based pharmacological agents consistent with departmental guidelines and privileging, and schedules appropriate follow-up management. Actively incorporates evidence-based hospital initiatives to improve patient care. Conducts preventive health screening based on age, history and patient needs as appropriate. Maintains clear comprehensive yet concise records of all aspects of patient care, completed within policy guidelines. Revises the plan of care to meet the changing needs of the patient.

Prioritizes work and assists staff to provide prompt and efficient client flow. Consistently maintains high productivity according to identified standards. Leads/participates in projects to improve productivity. Leads/participates in systems improvements.

Appropriately and professionally educates clients and/or families regarding medical condition, treatment, and follow-up. Collaborates with clinicians and staff to promote continuity and patient/family centered care.

Interacts collaboratively with coworkers, other team members and staff in a respectful, courteous, and timely fashion appropriate to patient care needs and situations. Candidate Qualifications:

Required

  • Completion of an accredited graduate-level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program.
  • Must be licensed to practice as an Advanced Practice Provider (i.e., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant) in North Carolina
  • To be credentialed, mid-level providers must be recommended by the Credentialing Committee and approved by the Board of Trustees. A delineation of privileges form will outline specific functions approved for APPs.
