Pastoral care services

Our chaplain is available to provide spiritual support to patients, families, visitors and staff. Our pastoral care services include:

  • Prayer

  • Spiritual care

  • Religious literature

  • Sacraments and blessings

  • Assistance with advanced directives

  • Ministry of Presence

  • Spiritual guidance

  • Faith community, clergy and/or a hospital liaison

  • Pastoral care education and training

  • Guidance regarding health care ethics

When to contact chaplain services

Consider contacting chaplain services in the following circumstances:

  • When experiencing emotional and spiritual distress.

  • When facing surgery.

  • When receiving unwelcome news associated with chronic illness.

  • When experiencing sadness and grief.

  • When family, church and community support are not immediately available.

  • When reaching life milestones and times of celebration.

  • When life stories need to be listened to and validated.

  • When facing difficult choices associated with life-support technology and end of life.

  • When, as a patient, you want to experience respect and compassion for your dignity and beliefs.

Contact chaplain services

Chaplain services are available Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. We also offer on-call services after office hours and weekends, with some exceptions.
